Nigerians to submit their phone’s IMEI to NCC

The Nigerian Communications Commission has said that policy is in place to request Nigerians to start submitting their International Mobile Equipment Identity (IMEI) to the commission in a bid to curtail and tackle the spate of insecurity ravaging the nation

This move is certainly backed by the President, Muhammadu Buhari

The aim of this new policy is to curtail the counterfeit mobile phone market, discourage phone theft, enhance National security, increase revenue generation for the government, mitigate the use of mobile phones for crime and facilitate blocking of stolen mobile phones.

The policy is expected to commence in three months
