House of Representatives vote against lifting of Twitter ban

The Federal House of Representatives has rejected the move to lift the ban placed on Twitter.


Recall that a committee was set up to investigate the situation.

In accordance with the report the committee put forward, the leader of the minority leader Toby Okechukwu suggested that an amendment be made to the recommendations.

The motion made by the minority leader says “that the Federal Government should take into cognizance the negative effect of the Twitter suspension on Nigerians who depend on the platform for their livelihood.”


The motion was seconded by another member but was however rebuffed and rejected by the house.
